Luxor Cooking Class

Being in Luxor is just like stepping into a time machine and travel back in time to 5000 years ago Luxor is the pharonic temples with their massive columns, magnificent pylons and amazing hieroglyphics writings on the walls tumbling to the edge of the river. Luxor is the tombs of the mighty kings in the heart of the valley with the amazing colored drawing of the book of the death and the narrow secret shafts and the kings burier chambers. Luxor is local villagers in their galabias riding on the back of their donkeys in an attempt to beat the morning traffic heading to the fields. Luxor is the vibrant souks loaded with golden jewelry, handmade artifacts, alabaster status, and papyrus paintings. Luxor is a ride in a calche along the courniche soaking the history of the temples and the charm of the Nile. Luxor is a cup of mint tea on a local café on the edge of the river. With a wealth of ancient preserved sites that represent nearly 1/3 of the world heritage sites , Luxor is truly the biggest open air museum in the world. Luxor has been the capital of ancient Egypt in the new Kingdom Era. It was called “Wa set” at the time which meant the “city of scepter” . Later the Greek called it Thebes which means “city of 100 gates” Being the capital of Egypt, it became the center of art and religion thus became loaded with monuments unparalleled anywhere else in the world. During the Islamic Era, and seeing the enormous temples of Luxor the Arab changed its name to be Luxor, which means the city of Palaces Luxor is the Mecca of travelers seeking culture and history… To say that the Luxor area is a major attraction for tourists in Egypt would be an understatement. It has been a tourist destination since the beginning of tourism. Even in ancient times, during the late Dynasties of the Greek and Roman periods, the area drew tourists, and has been doing so ever since. But today and after all what we talked about we will cross the river Nile to one of the family local houses to enjoy our cooking class with the local family members in the west bank of Luxor and to know how they cook their hot meals, what spices they use and enjoy the meal you cook at the end by the shores of the Nile river.
